Crowns
Dental Services
A dental crown is a tooth shaped “cap” that is placed on top of a damaged tooth. Dental Crowns can be made of metal, porcelain, resin or ceramic. Porcelain or ceramic crowns are used to match the color of your natural teeth. Metal crowns are stronger and rarely chip or break offering the longest wear. They may be the best solution for back teeth.
Reasons for Crowns:
What to expect
First the tooth must be recontoured so that that crown will fit over the tooth comfortably. Once the tooth is reduced, scans will be taken to create a perfect fit. Your dentist will guide you in the best material to create your crown. If porcelain is to be used, we will determine the shade to match your existing teeth. Next, a temporary crown will be put in place until the permanent crown is created. Finally, the new permanent crown is secured in place.
